This is probably the best procedure for rejuvenating the face and restoring the lost contours of the face as the person ages. With ageing, the supporting tissues of the face shrink losing that youthful full appearance. Often a facelift is done at this point which pulls the tissues and can give a tight hollow look. It makes more sense to replace the fat which has been lost, as it will restore the fullness in the cheeks and give a more natural appearance. The results last for many years.
A fat transfer is a procedure lasting about one and a half hours. We collect some fat from permanent pockets elsewhere on the body (usually the hips or outer thighs or stomach) in syringes and then transfer the fat as many small particles in multiple layers throughout the areas on the face (or back of hands) thereby replacing that which has been lost.
BEFOREAFTER
As this is a natural approach there is no fear of an allergy reaction that you may have with foreign materials. How much fat you keep from the transfer is unpredictable – usually it is at least 70 % in the cheeks. Ther is minimal downtime and no scars. It tends to give both a healthy and a youthful look.
